Paragas Elected as Voting Member of MCA-P Board

The MCA-P Board of Trustees, in its meeting last April 17, elected Marietta T. Paragas as a voting Board member upon the nomination of the MCA-P Stakeholders Committee. She replaced Veronica Villavicencio who had withdrawn her nomination in an earlier meeting of the Committee.

Paragas is the President of the Cordillera Network of NGOs (non-government organizations) and POs (people’s organizations), or CORDNET, a pro-active and culture-sensitive coalition of five member-provincial networks in the Cordillera Region which was organized in 1998 to harness the multi-ethnicity nature of the region.

She was a non-voting Board member last year.

In the same meeting, the Board elected Cezar S. Belangel as a non-voting member, representing the Pambansang Kilusan ng mga Samahang Magsasaka (PAKISAMA), a national federation of peasant associations working on issues related to asset reforms, good governance and rural development. It has a membership base of about 63,000 farmers, fishers, rural women and indigenous peoples in 43 provinces in the Philippines.
